Ilyin
Internationally acclaimed performer and chore0grapher Mikhail
Ilyin is currently a principal dancer with Miami City Ballet. He began as
soloist in 2001 and quickly moved to principal two years later. In 2004 he was
one of the leading teachers of the Miami City Ballet School Summer Program. He
trained with the School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Limon
Institute, The Alvin Ailey Dance Center, Steps Studio and Perridance Center and
graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy.
Mikhail has performed leading roles in an extensive list of
performances including Swan Lake, Paquita, Coppelia, Nutcracker, Giselle, La
Sylphide, Don Quixote, Le Corsaire and The Sleeping Beauty to name just a few.
He has toured in Canada, Bahrain, Finland, Greece and the United Kingdom.
Performances plus teaching and choreographing has found him in Florida, New
York, Texas, Mississippi, Japan and Spain.

In 1998 he won the gold medal at the IV "Vaganova-Prix" International Ballet
Competition. Two years later he received the highest awarded prize - the Silver
medal - at the VI New York International Ballet Competition. In 2002 he received
the Bronze at the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi.
Mikhail was one of four dancers from the US invited to perform for a fundraising
gala for the opening of the Queen Mary II ship. His efforts with this event
raised $750,000 for Miami City Ballet. Mikhail was named one of the top dancers
in 2005 by Dance Magazine.
